We live in a fast-paced world. Finding that precious balance between work and free time isn’t always easy, I know.
As a Life Coach, I’m here to encourage you to find ways to express yourself. No matter how you do it.
If you have a passion, a hobby or just a creative flair, suffocating that because of a lack of time or inspiration is just not a good idea. Self development is one of the main ways that people constantly find new ideas, perspectives and creative solutions. When we give ourselves permission to express our identity, we’re basically expanding our own brains and neural pathways.
In short, self expression as well is one of the main ingredients for happiness.
Listen to yourself
I’ve had many clients ask me recently: “Viky, how can I find out what I really like?”
This question sounds easy on the surface but trust me, everyone has been there. Everyone has been at a point in their life where they don’t really know who they are, or they don’t know how to express a specific side of their personality.
It honestly doesn’t matter if it’s a light-hearted hobby or a hidden passion. If you feel the need from deep inside yourself, you should go for it.
What is a hobby?
A hobby is simply a specific action that gives you pleasure. Pleasure is a powerful feeling: every time we experience it, our vibration gets higher. It has the innate ability to release stress and elevate your mood.
Here’s few tips on how to find your hobby or just find a way to express your creativity:
Never underestimate the power of writing. Putting thoughts down on paper is an incredible way of decluttering your mind and gaining a clear overview of the answer you’re looking for. Make a list of all the activities that make you happy or light you up inside.
Have you always loved eating cake? Well, try to understand how you can transform this passion into something special. For example, you could dedicate time to making a brand new recipe, or visit a different patisserie or cafe every week to try a new dessert.
A passion or a hobby won’t flourish under restrictions. You have to create a stress-free, nurturing mindset around it. It should be something that you do for yourself, without any expectations of the outcome. Make sure you don’t put pressure on yourself while you’re doing it. Enjoy the ride! Nobody is evaluating your performance.
A hobby can be one of the best ways to make new friends to spend time with. For example if you like surfing, you could book on to a group session and start to bond with likeminded people. Having a circle of friends that share the same passions can lead to interesting conversations and fun memories.
I hope this has inspired you to seek out a new hobby, or reignite an existing one. What’s your hobby– do you have one, or are you looking for one? I’d love to hear more about your journey.
